SHUANGLIN
A water meter is only as accurate as the water flowing through it in one direction. When pressure in the supply line drops or fluctuates, water can momentarily flow backward through the meter — causing it to spin in reverse and under-record actual consumption. SHUANGLIN VALVE's brass water meter check valve is installed directly ahead of the meter to stop this from happening, protecting billing accuracy for utilities, property managers, and metering system suppliers alike.
Municipal and building water pressure is rarely perfectly constant. Pump cycling, elevation changes, and simultaneous demand from multiple fixtures all cause momentary pressure drops. Without protection, these drops can pull water backward through the meter for a fraction of a second at a time — and over months of operation, this reverse spin adds up to measurable, unbilled water loss. A meter check valve closes the instant flow direction reverses, so the meter only ever registers forward consumption.
The valve contains a spring-loaded disc that opens under normal forward flow, offering minimal resistance to the water passing through to the meter. The moment pressure drops enough for flow to reverse — even briefly — the spring snaps the disc shut, sealing the line before any water can travel backward through the meter. When forward pressure resumes, the disc reopens automatically, and metering continues without interruption.
The valve body is machined from solid brass and rated to PN16, suitable for standard municipal and building water pressures. It's built with a union nut connection on one end, matching the design shown, which allows the meter or downstream fitting to be removed for inspection, replacement, or maintenance without cutting into the pipeline. SHUANGLIN VALVE offers this valve from DN15 through DN50, covering residential meter connections up to larger commercial and multi-unit installations, with BSP or NPT threading available to match local plumbing standards.

SHUANGLIN VALVE backs every water meter check valve with a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects, including free repair or replacement where applicable. OEM/ODM services are available for custom thread types, union fitting styles, and private-label packaging on bulk orders.
Why would a water meter need a check valve if it already measures flow accurately? Most meters are designed to measure forward flow only, but they can still physically spin backward if water reverses direction, which registers as negative or lost consumption. The check valve prevents this reverse flow from ever reaching the meter.
Will this valve restrict normal water flow to the meter? No. The internal disc is designed to open fully under normal forward flow, so pressure loss through the valve is minimal during regular operation.
Why does the valve use a union connection instead of a straight thread? The union nut allows the meter or adjacent fitting to be disconnected and serviced without removing the valve itself or cutting the pipeline, which simplifies maintenance and meter replacement.
