The valve uses the same internal throttling mechanism as our standard balancing valve, but pairs it with a heavy-duty metal handwheel featuring a more finely divided scale. This makes intermediate settings easier to read and repeat accurately — an advantage on projects with many circuits to balance, where small setting errors on each valve can add up to a noticeably unbalanced system overall. The metal handwheel also holds its position more firmly than a lighter plastic wheel, reducing the risk of the setting drifting during long-term operation.
Two self-sealing measuring ports on top of the valve body — color-coded red and blue — allow a differential pressure meter to be connected directly across the valve while the system remains in operation. Technicians read the pressure differential, cross-reference it against the valve's flow chart, and adjust the handwheel to the precise scale position needed to achieve the design flow rate. Because the scale divisions are finer on this version, technicians can dial in intermediate flow rates with less guesswork than on a standard handwheel.
